We're officially snowed in! I think it was the official welcome to Colorado - several months late. We were lucky to make it home yesterday. We both went to work with just a skiff of snow on the ground -- thinking those weather people were crazy -- they usually are wrong. However, by the time we got off the bus downtown it was blizzarding like crazy. I walked 7 blocks in that -- just to leave at 11:45. Thankfully someone at work gave me a ride to the bus station. Bryan and I were able to meet up at the station for a two and a half hour wait to get on a bus and make the 1 hour trudge through the snow home. When we got to the station, we had to dig our car out of the parking lot, and manuver around all those dinky little cars that were stalled - Thanks Mom & Dad for the snow tires and the grandma car!! We slipped and slided home barely seeing 5 feet in front of us - the winds were so powerful, the snow looked like it was coming in sideways. We finally made it home where it was nice and warm. Bryan scooped out the driveway and the front porch so that we could get the car in the garage, and have a place for Berkley to do his business. The look on his face when he has to go outside it priceless: "you want me to do what,...where?" Then he runs around like a crazy dog through the 3 feet of snow and proceeds to barrel inside snow flying everywhere. The cats are enjoying "snow-watching" -- we decided to watch Christmas movies and have hot cocoa. We're watching the road reports so that we can drive to Montana as soon as the roads are clear. Pray for safe travels..we won't venture out if it's not safe, but we do want to get home for the first Christmas in 3 years! Let it snow!

Thanksgiving...Turkey and all that jazz.

Thanksgiving was a lot of fun this year! We hosted for the first time in our new home. Bryan's whole family was here, as well as my parents. I made a big turkey of my favorite meals to prepare all year :) We had an apple cider turkey with all the fixin's. We also had fun shopping the day round out the Thanksgiving tradition of course :) We drank lots of apple cider and had way to much dessert to go around, but it was lots of fun, quality family time that we haven't had in awhile -- very nice!

First Snow!

We've already had 3 snowfalls this October - and all before Halloween! That's a record even from my Montana days! Here are some fun pictures of us getting used to the snow again. Driving in it is "oh, so fun!"

New Home...New Family Member

No I'm not pregnant...Friday we brought home our very own yellow lab puppy, Berkley. He's absolutely adorable. We spent all weekend getting him settled and spoiling him. Sadly, Saturday night he got sick and we had to take him back to the breeder to get some antibiotics. He should return home tonight or tomorrow night. Pray for our little puppy, it's so sad to see such a helpless little guy sick. I have tons of pictures of him, I just haven't had time to upload them to the computer and post stay tuned!

Our home is wonderful. It's so nice to come home to your very own place. We've been painting the last few weeks and have finished most of the living spaces. We're going to take a break from painting for a few weeks to spend time with Berkley and then we'll move onto the bedrooms. With our home we also acquired 4 goldfish in our backyard pond, my cousins Matthew and Mitchell each named one, as well as Bryan and I, Poppy, Squirttle, Football (ugh), and I'm having a memory lapse on the last one...

I also have several pictures of the house, and will have before/after pictures with painting, etc.. I never realized how much there is to do in a new house! It hardly leaves time for blogging :)

My firm: Davis Partnership in the News...

For those of you non-architecture afficionados, Daniel Libeskind is a famous architect who happened to pair up with one of the principals of our firm to design the new Denver Art Museum's building. We having our Christmas party there! It's supposed to be really cool, so if you're ever in Denver check it out!

New Vacuum

Ok - so you're probably thinking that if I'm writing a blog on our new vacuum, things must really be rough... well that's not so. I'm just very impressed.

We had a vacuum we bought when we first got married, just 2 years ago. It totally bit the dust in the last couple weeks -- such great timing with moving and all. So we started researching different vacuums. We finally decided on the dyson animal. I was nervous to pay more than the average price for a vacuum, but once I filled up the container twice with cat hair our old vacuum could have never picked up - even in it's best days - I was hooked!

We have a house - it's finally official. The house you see below is our house now. We move in on the 27th! My parents are coming to help us move in and see our new abode that weekend :) Bryan's convinced that as soon as we walk in the door I'll go get a puppy - maybe so :)

I also have a new job - I sent an email about this so it may be old news, but I start Friday - I'm very excited. I'm also pleased with how well my current job has treated me under the circumstances of working there such a short time. They're taking me out to lunch Wednesday to say good-bye.

We also went to a newcomer's dinner at our church to meet & greet the pastors. It was nice to finally meet them all, hear the history of the church, etc. We are looking forward to getting placed into a small group (finally meeting people) and possibly helping out with the junior high group...

So that's the scoop, this is a busy month & but a very fun one!

We've recently started looking for a house. We've been roaming through different neighborhoods picking up flyers and have finally decided to get serious. We went to a few open houses this weekend & found what could possibly be the house. We're waiting to have Bryan's dad refer us to a realtor & then we're hitting the ground running. It's really exciting to think about finally having a place of our own! Especially since it will be the place where kids are born & a new puppy joins our family! Oh and did I mention I'm excited to finally have my own place to design! So much fun to be had & memories to be made :)

Fun times in Denver

Wynkoops Brewery: as an avid food network fan, I enjoy most of Rachel Ray's shows. Especially "$40 a day." One of the ways we love exploring new places is through it's cuisine. So we decided to combine the two in exploring our new city. We looked up Rachel's $40/day episode for Denver and came across Wynkoops Brewery. They serve up several different beers on tap that are brewed in house. We even got a tour of the brewery. Afterwards we got to sample the beers for $1/sample and enjoyed THE best hot wings we've ever had - and we've had a lot of hot wings!

We then headed over to the Vesta Dipping Grill - another must in Denver. The menu is based around 30 different dipping sauces, with different meats, etc. to dip. I had lamb w/ a pistacio mint sauce, chipotle sauce, and a red curry - Yum-O! I'm still raving about the pistacio mint sauce, it was such a unique combination of flavors.

Did I say we like to explore a city through it's cuisine? Because after dinner we headed to Gelazzi and gelaterai that has great gelato & sorbetti. I can't remember what we had, because we've been more than once now, but I do know it was good :)

Who says the way to a mans heart is through food? I say it's the way to my heart too :)

Two Years Baby!

Bryan & I celebrated our 2 year anniversary this past Monday! It's hard to believe it's been that long because the past 2 years have gone by so fast, but at the same time it feels like so much longer. We've been together for a total of 6 years now, and starting to approach a decade -- yikes! It's been an incredible two years. I'm so thankful that God created marriage - what's better than living & sharing life with your best friend?!

I started up running again since we moved to Colorado. It's been a good way to get back into a routine and get back in shape. Unfortunately, after living in California for 3 years I'm having to get used to the high altitude change -- I didn't think 3 years would make that much of a difference. It's amazing how running is a great way to explore new places. I have several bunnies and groundhogs that come out to greet me every day, and I even saw a coyote one day (luckily he was scraggly and not very viscious looking). The mountains are beautiful too, I'd forgotten how much I love them, and they're so close.

I have a job, I have a job!

Friday of last week I was offered a job with Terra Verde Architects - and I gladly accepted! I'm very excited and relieved to finally be starting my professional career. I will get to work in both residential and commercial design and work in architecture and interior design. Very exciting!!! Thank you for all your prayers for us during these last few months of job hunting - God is good :).

Cheyenne Frontier Days

This weekend we went to Cheyenne Frontier Days in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It's the first time I've been back since I was 6 years old and lived in Casper, WY with my family. I used to get all dolled up in my pink cowboy hat & boots and my brother had a matching blue set. We were quite a laugh I'm sure with our matching cotton candy. Cheyenne Frontier Days is the largest rodeo in the United States coupled with the largest "country/cowboy" festivities. The last time I went Lane Frost was mauled and killed by the bull "Taking Care of Business." Since then they've built a life-size statue of Frost & the bull from that ride. It was kinda cool/creepy to see. We wandered around the fairgrounds with my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins and had yummy homemade lemonade.

Weekend with Matthew and Mitchell

My cousins Matthew & Mitchell spent last Friday night with us. We had a full day of swimming & sun. We then went out to pizza. Then we brought ice cream home, swam some more and watched a movie. The boys camped out in our living room and played playstation with Bryan.
